Suspicious Letter Warning From HMRC

Clever Accounts

Companies House have issued a warning about suspicious letters claiming to be from them.  If you receive any phone calls, emails, or letters which you’re not sure about, please speak to your dedicated accountant straight away.

The warning relates to specific letters which state that you need to make a payment for Enhanced Web Filing Access and are being sent to the registered office address.

This is a scam letter asking for payment.Do not visit any web page or QR code links, and do not make any payments to the details shown.

For further details on scams pretending to be from Companies House, please see their article here, and for HMRC, please see the document here. These include common scam telephone calls, emails, text messages and letters, that you may receive.

As we provide a proactive accountancy service, we will let you know about any official notifications or filing deadlines relating to your business. If your registered office address is ours, we will receive correspondence on your behalf from Companies House and HMRC, so anything that needs to be addressed will be picked up as part of our service.

Similarly, if HMRC or Companies House issue information you need to know about, such as changes to their systems or procedures, this will be passed on by your accountant, if relevant.

Always pick up the phone to discuss any correspondence you receive or anything you’re not sure about.  Our team is here to support you, available to 5pm 5 days a week.
