Companies House to Undergo Planned Downtime from December 5th, 2024

Clever Accounts

Companies House has announced a scheduled downtime for their systems, starting from the evening of Thursday, December 5th, 2024, and expected to resume on Monday, December 9th, 2024. This planned downtime is necessary for system updates related to their charging processes.

Impact of the Downtime

During this period, all fee-bearing forms, including CS01 (Confirmation Statement) and IN01 (Application to Register a Company), will not be filed or processed. This means that any urgent filings should be completed before the downtime begins. Additionally, no forms will be returned during this period.

Reason for the Downtime

The downtime is part of a larger project to update Companies House's IT infrastructure and improve the information held on the register of companies. This is in line with the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill. Companies House has indicated that there may be multiple periods of downtime in the future as part of this ongoing project.

Recommendations

During the downtime we will be able to submit applications to incorporate companies and file Confirmation Statements, but will not receive confirmation until the service is back online. Businesses are advised to plan accordingly and ensure that any critical filings are completed before the downtime starts. Companies House is working closely with stakeholders to ensure a smooth resumption of services once the updates are complete.
