Good news for engineering contractors

The latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation / KPMG report saw engineering contractors leap to the top of the charts for demand in January 2014, up from sixth position in December.

The growth was attributed to the UK’s major infrastructure and building projects and recent construction boom and was also linked to the shortage of skilled workers in these areas to satisfy the demand, a trend we’ve seen in the tech sector for some time.

However, the picture was positive across the board, with all sectors showing growth and with vacancies rising at their fastest rate since May 1998 and employer confidence in the hiring of new staff hitting the highest level in the report for fifteen and a half years.
